Our Story: Rooted in Alpine, CA

When I first opened Barberet Co., I never imagined how much it would shape the next chapter of my life, not just as a business owner, but as a single mom, a parent to a child with autism, and now the founder of Sage & Jade Co.

Owning a barber shop in Alpine has been an incredible journey. Becoming part of such a tight-knit, supportive community has been a blessing beyond words. It’s a place where neighbors know your name, celebrate your wins, and rally around you during challenges. It’s this very sense of connection that opened the doors for Sage & Jade Co. an artisanal candle and soap boutique that complements the warmth and personality of the barber shop. The shop brought people together, gave me a platform, and showed me that a business rooted in heart and community can flourish.

Being a single mom to a child with autism has shaped every decision I make, both personally and professionally. Life is full of unique challenges, and balancing parenthood with entrepreneurship has taught me resilience, patience, and creativity in ways I never expected. My child’s perspective has even influenced aspects of Sage & Jade Co. from scent ideas to color palettes, bringing authenticity and inclusivity into the products we create.

Launching Sage & Jade Co. alongside Barberet Co. feels like a natural extension of the space we’ve built together. While the barber shop offers community and connection through style and grooming, Sage & Jade Co. offers sensory experiences, hand-poured candles and artisanal soaps that invite warmth, mindfulness, and comfort into people’s homes. Together, they complement one another, creating a holistic experience of care, creativity, and connection.

I share this story because I want it to be relatable: the path isn’t always smooth, and the days can be long and unpredictable. But the joy of building something meaningful for your community, while growing alongside your child and watching them inspire your work, makes every challenge worthwhile.
